Project 1- Operation Fruit Headdress
But Angie! What the heck do I need to make my headdress?
I made my first and some of my favorite headdresses out of coca-cola bottles and items from the 99¢ store. The headdress you will make today requires just a few easily obtainable supplies!
1. A straw basket
For the beginner model we will be making today, I prefer a plate-like basket with low sides approximately 9" diameter.
2. Fabric - 1 yard of a spandex blend fabric
I recommend spandex fabrics for first time headdress wearers. You will be using this fabric to tie the basket to your head and its stretch will enable you to feel secure. After you become more comfortable, you can use almost any type of fabric. I prefer silk crepe.
3. Fake Fruit
12 pieces of assorted plastic fruit.
You can often find these at craft stores and floral shops.
4. Fake flowers with leaves, 6-12 assorted
Remove flower heads and leaves from stems, discard stems.
5. Felt
1 yard, any color you chose, it will not show.
6. Glue Gun and two dozen hot melt glue sticks
You can snag one of these babies at any craft store worth a salt, hardware stores as well.
I have 6 of them and a leather holster that I wear while crafting so I can access them with ease!

8. Needle & thread (to match fabric)
