Travel Tips & Tricks
New York City is our home! We are crazy about NYC and we want you to experience what our favorite places and things are here. We are working on creating a huge and helpful list of our favorite places to visit, dine, sit, shop, etc... for you to use during your stay in our hometown.
New York, New York
Hungry? John's
100 years of Italian Home Cooking
We get starry eyed just thinking about John's, that's really how much we love it! If you love Italian food & New York, then you'll love John's! We Pontanis (including Mom and Dad and the extended Pontani clan) LOVE this place. Our favorite table is the one in the back room by the 25 year old tower of white candles! May we suggest the papardelle in a meat ragu (this baby simmers for 5-7 hours) or the carbonara, oh, you just won't know what to do!
Ask for Mike and tell em the Pontanis sent'cha!

Tempo Presto
We love Gelato, when in Italy we can't get enough of it! But sadly it's
pretty tough to find the good stuff here in the states. However, just
the other day Angie was strolling 5th Ave (in Brooklyn) and just had to try the
pistachio gelato at Tempo Presto and she loved it enough to call both
Tara and Helen to tell them about her joyful discover!

Their gingerbread cookies and frosted chocolate chip pumpkin cookies will knock you out! Wear an elastic wasteband to this NYC staple!

Shops & Stuff
The Brooklyn Bridge Yup, we mean the real deal, the bridge that connects lower Manhattan to our favorite borough, Brooklyn! Tara's favorite way to get across the bridge is to start in Manhattan, take the downtown 6 train to Brooklyn Bridge and start walking. There's an amazing Walt Whitman poem at the start of the promenade. Stop and read about the building of the bridge and the reconstruction to make it car ready. The best time to make the journey is at dusk, the sun setting over the city is breathtaking. Make sure to sit on one of the many benches and just enjoy being over the East River! Once you get over the bridge, you're in Brooklyn Heights, loop under like you're walking towards the river and bare left and you will run into lots of bars and restaurants. Brooklyn Bridge 6 train downtown to Brooklyn Bridge
Coney Island
Run, don't walk to Coney Island! Check out the fabulous museum, opened year roud! In the summer they offer a million different things from the side show, burlesque, live music, the mermaid parade and more! www.coneyislandusa.com
Anonymous When it's time for a haircut and basic primping we head to our favorite person with a pair of scissors, Angelo. He's a master with the blades and a dye bottle too. We swear to you. He's only in a couple days a week, so call ahead and treat yourself to the best haircut in NYC! 105 Sullivan St. 212.966.6806
